Reading Daniel Chapter 11 for my Quiet Time. Had some things come to mind as I read it...
Thought it was cool and interesting that the angel talking to Daniel, Gabriel I think, was sent on a mission, from my understanding, to encourage and protect the pagan king Darius, the Mede? You always think of angels protecting believers and children, not adults who have made the choice to not follow God. This was His plan though in ensuring the care of His people and the earth I guess. What's awesome is that these kings who ruled Daniel came to respect and appreciate Daniel's God.
The book of Daniel has clearly switched gears to a prophetic style of writing that is sometimes hard to follow, but that's ok. From reading the notes provided in my Bible, it seems to be overwhelming accepted that some of the prophecies mentioned have been completed already. How do we know this? (the kings of north, south, etc.) Again, obviously, smart people before me have studied this intently. The anti-christ is before Jesus comes to my understanding right. I've always heard that and accepted it, but this is where it is spoken of, probably in Revelation too I imagine.
