Day 89 6-19

As I am wrapping up my study of Daniel, I thought it would be a good idea to go back and try and summarize the book in my own words...

1. Most likely as a young teenager, Daniel was forced into service for the king of Babylon when his home town was taken over
2. He carried himself with excellence and dignity, maintaining his own identity as servant of God, a citizen of heaven, and an Israelite. He did this while respecting everyone.
3. He was highly successful at his job and moved up in the ranks with much responsibility.
4. Was given the gift of special circumstance dream interpretation.
5. Earned respect, but also was hated by fellow employees because he was so good. Continued to pray to His Lord 3x a day even though there was a law in place against this trying to catch him.
6. Was saved by God in the Lion's Den.
7. Amazingly loved, admired, and respected by a secular king.
8. Visited by angelic heavenly beings who told him of the fate of his people, the Israelites.

I could have done a better job, but those are what came mind. Also, I just started rattling off questions as I debriefed the book...

What happened next for Daniel (he was near 85 at the end of the book)? What did he do with this knowledge given to him? Did he understand it all? Where is he buried? What will his role be in the new heaven and earth? What did I learn about God's character from this book?
