Today for my quiet time, I am finishing up the second to last chapter in
Job-Shadowing Daniel, Ch. 11.
So, how did Daniel not only survive in the world he was living in, but also thrive and remain strong??
- p. 169 Daniel found His strength not in outward circumstances but in his inner connection with God cultivated by...
1. PRAYER and being regularly anchored in the hope and faith in the permanent kingdom
2. STUDYING AND BELIEVING IN GOD'S WORD
3. FASTING Denying one's self to the normal comforts of life helps one to concentrate on
the sovereign God who rules the eternal kingdom (on occasion or for special
circumstances)
Other notes...
- Do my work to make God look good
- Don't expect church attendance on Sunday to provide the power that only a living and daily relationship with Christ can provide (173)
- Definition of spiritual disciplines (178)
"activities of mind and body purposefully undertaken to bring our personality and total being into effective cooperation with the divine order"
Had to read this several times because I do not have logical brain, but I love it once I could really allow it to resonate with me!!
